The "remember me" option works using cookies. The cookie used does not store any personal information and poses no security risk. You can easily turn off the "remember me" option on the Personalize page. It is important that you do not disable cookies in your browser as this will prevent you from using our shopping cart. If you have any problems using the shopping cart please check that your browser is configured to accept cookies and that you are not running any kind of "anonymizer" software.

There is a link at the bottom of the page which you can use to browse the whole site using SSL encryption. By default only the Shopping Cart, Checkout, Order and Personalize pages are protected by SSL.

Register

Registering offers the following benefits:

access to bid on the auction.
access to purchase special offers.
access to purchase literature.
option to join the Johnson Philatelics Mailing List.
entrance in the competition.
access to the personalization features of this site.

If you have already registered please do not register again unless you are registering a different person. If you have logged in to the site or have the "remember me" option enabled you will be warned of your previous registration when trying to re-register.

The only fields you are required to enter are your firstname, surname and email address. Filling in more information will enable us to provide you with a better service, and it may be required at a later stage if you decide to purchase any items, specifically:

your address details will be needed should you purchase any items - fill them in now to save time later!
by filling in your fields of interest we can provide you with custom eApprovals.
select whether you would like to receive our newsletter.
"Remember me" - this feature makes the site remember you when you return, saving you the time of having to login!

Once you have completed the registration, please check your email. You will receive an email containing your username. If you enabled the "remember me" option then you will only need this to enter the Personalize section, otherwise you must use it to login whenever you visit. You can change your username to something easier to remember on the Personalize page.

Personalize

You will be required to enter your username whenever accessing the Personalize page.

The Personalize page has the following sections:

Change Username - you can change your username as often as you wish. Just type in the new one and click "Change username".
Personal Details - this section is for you to keep your profile up-to-date, including your current address, collecting interests, etc.
Order History - this is a summary of your order history - you can see the total amount of an order, whether it has been shipped, and a tracking number if applicable.
Credit Card - here you can send us your credit card details for us to keep them on record. The advantage of this is that you only have to do it once - if you place any orders we'll your details already! This is ultimately more efficient and secure.
Remember Me - if you think the "remember me" option isn't enabled, or if you don't want to be remembered, click the appropriate button.

Auction

You must register prior to bidding in the auction, although you can browse the auction without registering. If you have already registered, but get asked for your username, enter it in the provided field.

Bids must be placed individually - if there is more than one item you wish to bid on, fill in your bid and click "Bid" for each item.

The auto-bid feature works as follows: if you wish to bid $100 on an item, but you are prepared to pay up to $120 if necessary, then fill in your bid of $100, tick the "auto-bid" box and fill in $120 for the auto-bid amount. When tallying the bids at the end of an auction we will increment your bid up to a maximum of your auto-bid amount to secure the item for you. Lets say someone else bid $110 without any auto-bids, we would then increment your bid to $115 and the item would be yours!
